Hello! First time poster here, please be gentle if too much of this is elementary
Trying to confirm towing info. Getting ready to put in a Defender order and just want to make sure I’ve got it all right with cargo capacity and hitch weight in addition to total towing capability. I am going to tow an Airstream Basecamp 20X, which tops out at 4500 lbs but with a (also fully loaded) tongue weight of perhaps 630 lbs. My questions are a specific three:
Can you post pics of your door stickers showing cargo capacity please? Want to confirm after the tongue weight I can still get the fam of four and two dogs inside and be within spec.
Can you also post pics of the owner's manual section regarding towing weights? Trying to confirm what I’ve been told regarding max connection weight and also how much gets offset against the above cargo capacity. I’ve looked for a copy of the manual online but no luck…
Finally, would much appreciate any personal experience on towing something along these lines. We basically chose the smallest trailer we could that (a) sleeps four, (b) has a real bathroom, and (c) can get down a dirt road (not real off roading, just staying in campsites and NOT trailer parks!). Following what we've read we would NOT have a weight distribution hitch.
I tow up to 5000 lbs. with my P300 110. It works really well -- particularly off-road. You may want to choose a P400 for heavier weights.
I use an LR4 for heavier, on-road, long travel trips.
The door sticker notes the same Axle weight limits as in the manual:
I assume with the whole crew you are ordering a 110? You need this page as well to do your calculations No one I know has found a hitch to exactly meet the size requirements. I ordered one very close from Amazon and it works very well Here is the 90 .... just to compare
Enjoy !!

@tougu - The first Q will be vehicle specific. Mainly, do you want to see a P300 (4-cylinder) or P400 (6-cylinder)? Also, 90 or 110? Folks will post accordingly.
Q3 - I've only towed a very small flat trailer briefly and it worked well. My pickup can tow up to 18k, so I don't really use it there. Hope the other two answers help!
Good luck.

Super helpful - thank you! Yes, looking to order a 110 P400. The section about basically getting a 331 lb 'credit' before removing offset against payload is EXACTLY what I was looking for.
If anyone could post door sticker pics for a 110 P400 with example payload numbers that would be awesome, thank you in advance!
(Oddly I actually went to the LA Car Show last month and the Defenders all had both the door stickers and owner's manuals removed haha)

Excellent - so 1157 lbs payload. So roughly if my hitch weight is 630 and I get credit for 330, that leaves 1157-300 = 857 lbs for a family of four plus 2 dogs. We'll make it !
I thought the max tongue weight was around 360lbs. Or maybe that’s just recommended, but thought I had read that somewhere.
If I'm reading the OM right the trailer "nose weight" max is listed as 350 kg (772#), which is far more in keeping with the general US spec of 10-15% trailer weight on the tongue.
A mere 360# would be well under standard capacity for the tow rating of the vehicle, at least as normally calculated in the US
The Google suggests that in the UK a standard of 5-7% is used which calculates to more like 375-525# (I'm basing it on an approx 7500# tow rating, though iirc actual is sightly higher). So even there 360# sounds too low.
