yes, it’s tongue weight is quite low I believe, which is why I remembered it. Or rather it’s tow capacity is high for a suv, but not the tongue weight.

A mere 360# would be well under standard capacity for the tow rating of the vehicle, at least as normally calculated in the US

The Google suggests that in the UK a standard of 5-7% is used which calculates to more like 375-525# (I'm basing in an approx 7500# tow rating, though iirc actual is sightly higher). So even there 360# sounds too low.

Just check the owners manual if you want to see it yourself. I did last night when I posted and quoted the max nose/tongue weight. My guess is someone missed the fact that it was listed as kgs and not lbs.

Logically speaking I can't see a vehicle rated for a high tow capacity also being rated for a wholly insufficient tongue weight for that capacity. At least not since the days of bumpers with tow *****.

Default Read the ownersmanual to understand Defender's tongue weight

robsonj:

The tongue weight for the Defender is explained in detail in this photo from the U.S. owner's manual. Enjoy !

Hmm, is that the paper version of the OM?

Interesting that it includes the US standard measurements as the online one I usually use doesn't (or at least didn't in the towing section). I had to convert all the kg's to #'s.

It's the JLR app. You can search for it in the iOS app store or Google Play store.
