I definitely like the way that RedArc has a small switch plate to install into. That said I am also find the **** of my Tekonsha to be handy with its progressive application of the trailer brakes when manually applying and I also like the digital display that shows the amount of brake power being applied to the trailer based on the current conditions. One of the things I worried about since I tow off-road and in winter conditions is that the manual application control must be very easy to get to when you need it and also extremely easy to use. The last thing I want is to need to trim up the trailer due to slippery conditions and not be able to keep my eyes on the road and activate the brakes at the same time.
The Redarc elite has both a proportional and a manual control. The spot where most of us put the controller makes for an easy install but unless you’re a lefty is not as convenient as your photo. The Redarc controller can be installed elsewhere with some drilling. In reality all the better brands will do the job well.
I messed around for a while during my install and tried to leave the seats in… but it was really much easier once they were both pulled out (because I had to pull the center console).
I also found it was much easier to get under the dash with the extra space from the driver side seat being removed. Just something to keep in mind when you take this on. If it seems like it would help then do it—the seats pull out really easy.
