Default Tuffant Kakadu Wheel?

Has anyone tried these in 18s on a P400 with modified or swapped brakes? I believe the Kimberly's had some clearance issue, while it sounds like the Simpson's did not. They're a little bit pricey for a fairly heavy cast wheel.

I’ll report back as I’m getting these installed now but on vacation for another week before I can pick it up and try them out. Went from 19’s with the stock Adventure AT’s to the 18 Kakadu’s with KO3’s so only needed to do the rear calipers.

Sorry it took so long, my vaca was the gift that kept on giving.. In my case it gave me the West Nile virus so was laid up for a bit. So I had the 18in Kakadu’s installed on my P400, along with just the rear calipers from Lucky 8 (Car originally had the 19in rims, so didn’t need to do anything with the front calipers) and the 265/70/R18 KO3’s.
Verdict is they rub in access height and just barely in normal height but doesn’t when I have it at the off-road height. I need to research what my options are as this will drive me nuts.

That is too bad. Thanks for sharing your experience with this and let us know what solution you come up with.

Was texting with someone else that has the same model and got the same rims but put the Falken Wildpeak 275/65’s on and he said there is no rubbing, even in access height

Interesting. I have the same KO3’s but on 18 inch TuffAnt KIMBERLEY wheels with the LKY8 caliper kit on the rears. I do not have any rubbing I can determine in access or regular drive height. During my research here in forum I found others reporting no rubbing. I’m wondering if the Kakadu wheels being 0.5” wider have made ‘just enough’ of a difference to the installed aspect ratio of the KO3’s to cause the rubbing? In my install on the 110x I have air suspension. No idea how much of a difference (if any) air or regular suspension make to available clearance that might account for the rubbing.

I've got the Kimberley's with Wildpeaks AT3W 265/70R18 and there is rubbing in access mode and full lock. I think there is a lot of variability in actual tire size. I'm thinking maybe 1" lift rods, as I don't really want/need a lift, and if I was getting one would go with a subframe lift. @Flynnlax let us know what you end up doing.

For what it's worth, I'll thought others might find it useful if I shared some my homework when looking at tire choices when I made the swap from 19" to 18" rims and got rid of the GoodYear DuraTrac rubber installed on my 110x when I picked it up new. I found this website helped me better understand the physical implications when comparing numerous tire size options in addition to those listed here.

At time I took delivery:
255/65 19" LRD wheels with Goodyear DuraTrac rubber (note I had to complain to get the GY Adventure tires swapped out for the DuraTrac at time of pickup as the dealer dropped the ball). To no great surprise, the LRD version of the DuraTrac were specially fabricated by GY for JLR and not even capable of being studded like normal DuraTrac rubber in more traditional sizes.

I considered a variety of larger tires but was concerned about rubbing. I ran those numbers none-the-less to see how a range of sizes compared to stock size for fitment. Some of what I considered more practical numbers were as follows:

EDIT: A tire size that matched existing 255/65/R19 but switched to 18" Wheel for general comparison
255/65/R19: Dia 32.1" - Width 10" - Sidewall 6.5" - Circumference 100.6"
255/70/R18: Dia 32.1" - Width 10" - Sidewall 7" (7.7% bigger) - Circumference 100.7"

A) BF Goodrich KO3 (what I installed):
- Wheels: 18" TuffAnt Kimberley 8" with Lucky8 rear brake kit
- Tire: BFG KO3 LT 265/70/R18 Load Range E
- Tire Size on 8" Wheel: Section Width 10.7" - Tread Width 8.2" - Overall Diameter 32.6"
- I do not have any rubbing at access or normal drive height at full lock (or certainly none that I can sense)

B) Falken WildPeak A/T4W (my very close second choice):
- Wheels: Same as (A) above
- Tire: A/T4W LT 265/70/R18 Load Range E
- Tire Size on 8" Wheel: Section Width 11.2" - Tread Width 9" - Overall Diameter 33"

C) Falken A/T3W (a consideration)
- Wheels: Same as (A) above
- Tire: A/T3W LT 265/70/R18 Load Range E
- Tire Size on 8" Wheel: Section Width 10.7" - Tread Width 7.6" - Overall Diameter 32.9"
- didn't make sense given A/T4W is it's new replacement

D) BFG KO2 (a consideration)
- Wheels: Same as (A) above
- Tire: BFG KO2 LT 265/70/R18 Load Range E
- Tire Size on 8" Wheel: Section Width 10.7" - Tread Width 8.8" - Overall Diameter 32.6"
- went through many sets of these and their precursor on my FJ and earlier trucks with dad and uncles. Always been a family favorite :-D LOL
- didn't make sense given KO3 is the new replacement

Overall, I'm wondering if the (I presume slight) rubbing folks are experiencing with the Falken's is due to the slightly larger Section Width (+0.5"), Tread Width (+0.8"), and larger Diameter (+0.4") when compared to the BFG KO3 numbers. I also wonder if the wider TuffAnt Kakadu wheel (0.5" wider than TuffAnt Kimberley) might also be contributing to the rubbing condition as I wonder how much (if at all) it affects the profile and dimensions of the installed tire on the ground under load.

I'm far from an expert on the subject and I'm simply posting some of the numbers I researched in case others might find them useful.

Sorry for delayed response - it's been a hectic several weeks of travel. I hope the images below help
Note the rear brakes are missing a part of the red brake mount system (replacement part from Lucky8) and Rhino rock rails installed (also Lucky8)
