Default Unlock doors from interior

Perhaps I am missing something obvious, but I have a question for the group. Here's the scenario:

My wife and I were running errands last week. One of our stops took us to a "big box" home DIY store. As you can imagine, I went inside while my wife waited in the Defender. I was driving, and she is the front passenger.

I left her my key as I departed. She locked the vehicle from the inside as I walked away from the her. Now here's the question...when I returned to the Defender how is she supposed to unlock the door(s) when there is no switch located on the front passenger door? As a reminder, my key-fob was left with my wife inside the vehicle. It seems that there are only two options...release her safety belt and attempt to reach the unlock switch located on the inside of the driver's door OR pull the front passenger door handle. Either will unlock the door(s), but the first option is a bit of a PITA and the second option also OPENS the front passenger door, lol. Both leave a lot to be desired.

Is there a better way? Is there a replacement door switch that will add the "unlock button" to the front passenger door?

The other option would be for your wife to unlock it using the key, or perhaps opening her door to unlock all doors.

Not intentionally, but often times I'll drop the key fob into the driver's door pocket...so still not an easy reach for her from the front passenger's seat. Yes, using her door handle does unlock the doors but it also OPENS her door which is stilly. So that's it, there's no other option (besides leaving the vehicle unlocked, of course)?

Why, oh why, isn't there an unlock button on the front passenger door?

If you part pull the passenger door handle it unlocks the doors without opening the passenger door

I bet you could swap out the door lock switch for the same one on the driver's side. They all share the same part number: LR133068

Since RHD models have the switch on the right side door. I'm willing to bet you could swap it out without having to code it.

yeah, one of the silly things that makes you scratch your head and wonder what were the engineers thinking when they decided to cancel the door lock switch!!

This is what I was hoping for. I guess I would need to remove the door panel to see if the wiring is "all there". If your suggestion works, this would be fantastic.

You should only need to remove the midrange speaker grille cover to get to the lock. It just pops right off. It should also have an identical connection, as the tiring should be the same.

If the switches are so easy to remove, do you think I can just swap the driver's door switch with the passenger door switch just to see if it works?
