Yep. Spot on. A local news anchor here has her Discovery 5 all dolled up to look like an SVX down to the orange tow hooks. She went wrong with the SVR badging.

I believe they do understand money here. The Country Club set is where the money is and they spend money no matter the economy. JLR has to sell this car/truck or they are done. Or at least sold. So swing for the easy money first. I am hoping for a SVX version sans the drift button, real roof, winch options and the ability to tow. Now that would be a Land Rover Defender.

The new supercharged V8 will weigh more, and for the extra torque it produces the vehicle may also need a more hefty transmission and heavier brakes. Together these could easily consume the 220 lb. allowed dynamic roof load with all season tires, I suppose.

They may need to stay within all the presently certified weights to avoid having to redesign and requalify the remainder of the vehicle with government regulators? With sales only to realistically occur in the U.S., maybe recertification is not a realistic option?

If they do not include the roof rails, will they include points on which to mount an aftermarket rack? We will see.....

Yeah I saw this - but I really doubt that they're going to be built with a different roof than any other defender. So I expect it will arrive without rails - but still with the roof channels with plastic caps over bolts and holes - so you can fit them afterwards. There are YT vids showing you how to do this and it's very straightforward.

I suspect they need to do more engineering and testing before they approve the roof rails, I bet you it will be a factory option for MY2023.
i would stay go for it. At some point soon there will be someone getting their hands on one that will answer your question. You can always cancel your order later. And if you take delivery, you would probably be able to make a little profit selling it to someone else. As the owner of a RRS 5L SC V8 I can honestly say it is one sweet engine. I wish I could get approval from my better half.

Best of luck!
