The motor itself is the same. There is a possibilty that LR uses a smaller supercharger, but that is just speculation.
May I ask where (country) you ordered your Defender? Your dealer should know the details? Also, which trim did you order?

No, it uses the same supercharger. They have been using the same supercharger since that engine came out in 2009. This model is just detuned. You can have the ECU reflashed, but it might void your warranty. It also might be possible to unlock the higer horsepower tune using Pathfinder, as this can be done on the I6 and 4.4 BMW V8. Also, this 425hp tune is only for European countries, so it wouldn't be an issue for most people here, as it is a US-based forum.

I don't know if this guy is full of BS or what, but I thought it interesting that he is talking about it having the BMW 4.4L V8 in it not the 5.0L found in the P525.
But says that 4.4L V8 has 626hp. No idea if that kid has his facts or specs correct or not. But found it interesting especially when I saw it said 4.4L V8 not 5.0L. V8

🏁 @Alllcarnews Spec sheet: Under the hood is a welcome surprise: A Twin Turbocharged 4.4L V8 with 48v producing 626HP and 553 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels through an 8-Speed Gearbox with a 2 speed transferase. It can hit 60MPH in just 3.8 seconds with a 155MPH TopSpeed. 🏁 The OCTA is way more than just wild looks, enhanced interior, luxury, and a potent (German) V8. Under the skin is JLR’s Hydraulically interlinked 6D Suspension with pitch and roll control along with a 1.1inch lift and 2.7inch wider track with optional 33 inch rubber. A new OCTA mode comes with an Off Road Performance focus enabling off road launch control, off road ABS, TracDSC.DSC Off and more. Visually, the First edition comes clad with all the accessories, new forged carbon trim, the titanium OCTA logo, 20 inch forged wheels, an exclusive new Faroe Green Paint and a Khaki/Ebony Ultrafabric interior with seamless 3D knitting. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After over 13,960 durability tests, the Defender OCTA is ready to storm al terrains. Orders are now open with a $152k starting price.

I know, I just found it also interesting that there seems to be multiple V8 changes coming down the pike very soon.
I just find all the V8 changes happening now to be very interesting.

Justin, who is in this video is a good friend of mine. He is a trusted journalist and we've been Instagram friends for years. I was even on his podcast. This is the Defender OCTA, which uses a 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 from BMW. They use this engine in the Range Rover and RRS. This will eventually replace the 5.0, which ended production in February. They stockpiled enough 5.0s to last a couple years. If they continue to offer a V8 model that isn't the OCTA, this will be the engine to eventually replace the 5.0.

IF it is possible to reflash the ECU using JLR's Pathfinder software, I'd imagine you could get up to 550 or 575 horsepower. However, I wouldn't want that much power without the active anti-roll bars, which the EU spec P425 does NOT have, and that is something that can't easily be retrofitted. But like I said, I'm not sure if you can do that since the engine is a generation old. Reach out to @markjlr @GarrettSD or @sarek; they might be able to give you a definitive answer.

ohhh don’t tell me that, I was going to do it in order to improve the HP, do you think 425 hp in a V8 is good? Im a lit bit worried about the performance…

I don’t understand about mechanics,
can I install the anti-roll bars?
