Kicking myself for doing that damned update. I usually ignore that prompt when it comes up on the screen, but for some reason I didn’t this time. I get those all the time on my 2024 Denali Duramax diesel and I usually ignore those as well. Never again. Don’t know when I’ll get the car back and how long it will take for them to get the software fixed. And of course, no loaners right at the moment.

We’ve had the vehicle for about a year and a half with no issues until this.

I have meant to find this out but do you know if we can choose to not have automatic updates occur? Like my computers and iphone, i NEVER allow automatic updating because it can often cause issues with software that has not been itself updated to work with a new OS version for example. I always wait a few weeks at least to make sure people are finding it to be fine or until a revision has been made, like on a recent canon camera, the R5 mark II had a terrible result of its new update and had people trying to get it back to the old version of firmware. Then, a couple months later the revision fixed the issues of weird focus and some other things.

Yup, I’m aware. But my OCTA has got 8 cylinders as well and may share the parts of the transmission logic that were updated. After all, this update is preventing all models with the AJ V8 from shifting past second, as the reddit post from OP depicted a car with the 10” screen being unable to shift, suggesting that it was an SE with the P425/P500 engine, and not just the ‘V8’ model with a P525 engine that the update overview said was affected. Thus it can be deduced that the updates may also go to the OCTA BMW-sourced V8. They’ve also got ZF transmissions, but the OCTA one may be more high-strength.

2024 V8 here. Looks like they cancelled the update. Initially, mine downloaded it but it did not install. In the morning said it was up to date with 4.3.2 from December. 4.3.3 was removed.

I am definitely no computer expert God knows, but why can’t they just send out a new “update“ going back to the original settings before they sent out the defective update?

I was wondering why the tow guy said when he loaded ours, boy we’ve been towing a lot of these lately.

I can confirm the same with my 2024 P500. I went to a doctors appointment Friday morning. When I got home and parked it the garage, it prompted me to update. That night I went out and turned the car on to go to my cigar lounge, and immediately got the gearbox fault error. I drove it around the neighborhood and it wouldnt shift out of 2nd or third gear. Not sure which one its stuck in, though I'm guessing third because the tow truck driver had to give it quite a bit of revs to get it up on the flatbed. They towed it to the dealer. The service advisor didn't seem surprised but also didn't look like he was familiar with it. I guess we'll see what they do and how long of a fix it is.

I originally thought mine was stuck in second as well but now pretty sure it’s third. At least once it was bricked, it allowed some of us to get home as long as there was no freeway involved. Geez..what a mess. You would think Land Rover UK would have a couple of AJ V8’s around they could’ve tested the update before they send it out to 100,000 vehicles. Errrrr….

My 2024 v8 110 has same issue, gearbox fault after update.

I am driving my 2023 90 p300 for now waiting to hear back from dealer. I could not clear the fault with my gap tool either. Dealer hadn’t even heard of the issue this morning, but it’s a pretty small dealer as well.

Typically the OEM can define "profiles" that do and do not get the update. I suspect they've blocked the update for V8's for now, as some non-V8's are still getting it even as of today.
