V8 stuck in 2nd gear after OTA update?
Update on the update... just got my wife's car back and all good. I was afraid with them screwing around I'd lose the changes I did with the Gap tool but luckily the auto stop/start is still permanently disabled, and all the other settings are still there.
I doubt the update will make the mileage any better...

My Defender is now fixed. Not sure if it matters. But I logged out of my user account in the vehicle. Then logged back in. Once I logged back in, there was a new update. 4.3.4T (Transmission). Just did the update and all is good. No more check engine light and no more gearbox fault. Hope this update rolls out to everyone quickly!
At least with software issues - its hardly ever a case where irreversible damage - aka "bricking" occurs.
Finally got car back from dealer today, not a peep out of JLR - how can an organization as grand as that not even offer even a hint of ‘sorry everyone for the immense amount of inconvenience you had because we sent out an update that was unfit for some vehicles’. At least I got a new battery on warranty and a $50 discount on service out of it all. - wow
Not an excuse but JLR is already double f**ked with billions in UK guaranteed loans after the hack incident they need to pay back with interest, plus the pink Jaguar fiasco. The AJ133-G2 V8 engine doesn't sell much outside of US, I've heard it's not even available in England for the Defender anymore. They might have released that version for all smaller engines and ooooops we forgot we sell V8s!
Now, I have received a transmission / pivi software update in December for my '25 Range Rover with the BMW V8 and it went smooth and I can tell the shifting is greatly improved, they are smoother and done at more ideal higher RPMs. The computer downshifts when going uphill exactly when it should and how I would shift manually myself, at the adequate RPM / torque sweet spot.
I'm glad they resolved this relatively quick. Someone probably got fired for this huge snafu.
Oh i agree... But man. everything these days need software updates. From Home Theater receivers to mobile devices and vehicles... Soon our backyard faucets will need software updates 🤦

We like to think this but - the "simpler life" came with problems of it's own.
