Took delivery of a 2022 Defender X yesterday (ordered in June)
A few nice surprises - A-pillars are black instead of body color and tow hooks are black instead of "orange" color of the calipers. There is a trim around the tow hooks to give it a more finished look. I believe these are changes for '22. The dealer wasn't sure if HUD would be present even though it was specified in the order. HUD feature made it in the build.
PS -- I think that the reason your exterior A-pillars are black is that you've got the extended black pack. (so the bumper inserts front and rear go from metallic X color to black, the exterior A Pillars, and the quarter panel window square thing -- all go to gloss black on the X, normally these things are either starlight silver (f/r bumpers) or body color (A Pillar, window square).
Do you have a pic of what you're talking about around the rear recovery points?

I ordered the extended black pack so that makes perfect sense.
Picked up OEM black A pillar finishers prior to delivery. LR Part LR161347/LR161348. Retail is $150 for the set. PM if anyone is interested.
