Default What would a basic tool kit for a Defender look like

As I prep for my maiden delivery road trip, which will include some driving off the beaten path, wondering what those that have been wrenching on these cars think a basic toolkit would include (consider the space limitations of a D90, namely no trunk space), so a small tool bag will probably be it).

I always carry a hammer (16 ounce), small and large channel lock pliers, a multi-purpose tool (the one that has a knife, needle nose pliers and phillips and regular screwdrivers), a large regular screw driver, a stubby phillips screw driver, a high-quality (w/ a circular face) air pressure gage, a portable air compressor, two jacks (the stock scissor one and a bottle jack), extra needle valve covers and tie wraps. Oh, yes, almost forgot -- a high-quality garden trowel to dig hard ground --- I use the small recovery boards for soft dirt and the large recovery boards for sand.

Seems to work .......

Makes sense. Any sockets/wrenches that are prevalent (e.g. for and old BMW a 10,13,15 and 19mm will probably cover 60-70% of the bolts in the car ). BTW are these things Metric or Imperial?

I carry star wrenches and metric sockets/wrenches on the motorcycle (BMW off-road), but not on the Defender. The modern JLR vehicle is too complicated for wrenching on in the field.

Also, I do carry a computer fault reader -- so I know how much trouble is in the offing if a warning light comes on.

The bolts on the Defender are metric.

@TrioLRowner
Can you explain what you mean by needle valve covers?

The plastic grey/black screw covers for the tire inflation valves. They get lost during the air up/down process.
