I've been working with my local dealership to try to piece together a Defender. I simply can't justify the $18,200 price jump from the X-Dynamic SE to the X, and I don't want the hassle of retrofitting a larger touchscreen (I was told the 11.4-inch used to be a $150 upgrade!?).

I figure the 2025s will have at least the 11.4 inch touchscreen, since that's standard this year on 130s. 🤞

Also, after multiple visits I still haven't figured out what "interior storage" here refers to. Anyone know what this painted side panel has to do with storage?

 

I have a '22 with the 11.4" screen and yes, it was a 150 dollar upgrade. They ran into all sorts of supply constraints during COVID though. I was just using the configurator trying to recreate my build 110 P400 SE to see how much the MSRP had increased and noticed it wasn't even an option now. I like it, but I don't like it for 18k.

 

My 2023.5 couldn't be spec'd with the larger screen even though it was on the configurator as an option. Supply chain shortages meant that they wouldn't accept the order if it was checked.

As far as that panel goes, the storage is just the little shelf and piece of elastic that a fire extinguisher would fit in/on. It's nothing more than that.

When I ordered in April of '23 I was getting a build spot for arrival in August of 23 and that model was signified as a 23.5 and not yet a 24. So you may have some time before the '25's are being built.

Even today there's no guarantee what options are available even if they are on the configurator. Although the more you spend the more options you'll get as usual.

 

A 2024.5 would be fine, as long as they bring back the bigger screen

 

Best way to determine if the big screen is available is to contact your dealer. They will have the best info for what's available. I was a little disappointed at the option(s) that I selected that couldn't be installed due to SC issues.

 

Interesting. When I went to order my 22 in late-February of 21, after weeks of playing around with the 2021 configurator, they told me (on 2/25) that 2021s were closed, so I had to order a 2022. Not a problem at all, other than a small price bump on some things, but other things got cheaper; I think I was out about $500 vs. the build I had done on the 2021 configurator. Delivery was June, 2021.

So it’s interesting that even in April of 2023 you were still ordering a 2023.
