Default Whining/ranting about colors

OK- I expect to get a lot of heat for this (which is OK!) but does anyone else think that NONE of the colors are really that exciting?

I am tired of black/white/silver/gray. In terms of the Defender, I wonder if I am just too stuck on the image of the classics which came in Portofino Red, Coniston Green, AA Yellow, Arles Blue....

Tasmin seems too 'faded' out. Pangea seems too subtle. I am really struggling with my order. I have my 90 order in now (can still change) as Tasmin/White Roof/Steelies. but have considered:

- Pangea/White Roof/Steelies
- All black and wrapping the fenders and doors with Heritage Yellow (a la Trophy Edition)
- Silicon Silver/Black Roof (at least it is a slightly interesting gray but costs too much!)
- Ordering in Tasmin and wrapping below the roof in a different blue
- Ordering in Pangea and wrapping below the roof in Coniston or BRG

Kept hoping for something new for my 23.5 order but no such luck.

Am I crazy here?

I agree that I'd like to see a bright yellow / orange paint(other than the wrapped special editions which I think are actually blank underneath - I could be incorrect about that though!), a bright red like we saw on the P38/1999 D2, a dark green, and a Monte Carlo type of blue... but that said, I do think the current colors are quite nice.

I bet LR will keep revising the color palette as the model years progress. Pretty common for them to start to get "crazy" with the interior and exterior colors as the model ages.

All this said above, I utterly LOVE my eiger grey + black 2 tone X model. It's so sexy.

I agree colors could’ve been better, for what it’s worth I think Tasman looks great in person. I went with Pangea but it is very subtle, which I like, but I could see how it could be too subtle for some.

I agree with you, lots of boring, repetitive shades of gray. However I will commend you on your choice. Tasmin with white roof and white steelies is the way I would go if I were lucky enough to be buying one now. I’m sitting on the sidelines waiting several years, HOPING the used market settles down a bit on affordability.
But good choice!

I like the look of the X which is why I considered wrapping the doors and fenders in Heritage Yellow like the trophy edition.
The first 90 I drove was an Eiger X and it did look sharp.

I like the Tasman. I thinks it's the color with the most pop in the line up and a nice call back to the classic look.

Granted, we are all victims of ugly-baby syndrome; spying our fleas and seeing gazelles.

I have a Carpathian 90 with white roof and white steelies. It is in no way a subtle look IMO. With that being said for my tastes if available I think a darker green and / or a portofino blue would've been good colors to choose from as well.

I totally agree about the colours, there was a very poor line up, I would have loved an Aintree green one as I had that on one of my Disco 4's. In the end I went for white as didn't want black or 50 shades of grey

^Agree. Bring back the LR3 Tonga Green or LR4 Aintree Green or any similar "British racing green" color. Seems that most Land Rovers are now shades of gray or white. Makes the dealership look like a Florida retirement community parking lot.
