Windshield Annoyance
Got my OEM "clear" windshield replaced recently with a non OEM one and the new windshield has a purplish tint to it which I'm guessing is the solar attuning tech. My 110 is a 2023 which is all black with black window tints and I feel like this windshield is throwing it off. I'm debating calling Geico to complain for a new one but last time I tried to get OEM they put up a fight.
How do you guys feel about the solar film in the windshields? I feel like I'm gonna get another crack soon anyway because for some reason these windshields are very fragile or its the angle. You guys think its worth it to get this changed out for this reason?

I say live with the non OEM windshield until you need another one. It is not a matter of if, just when...These windshields at the angle they sit in are like magnets for rocks. I had 3 replacements in two years...They also much thinner and lighter in weight than the Range Rover windshields.

I bought a used Defender with a big chip in the windshield. I had to replace the windshield to pass inspection in my state and I was very nervous. Safelight did the replacement and I could not be happier. They used factory glass and I only paid a $500 deductible. They took special care with my Defender and the manager called me personally to move my mobile appointment to their sophisticated facility. I was really happy with the install and I love having a brand new windshield. My truck has about 40K miles. The new windshield has 10K miles and looks perfect.

We picked up our 130 from a dealer about an hour and a half away. 30 minutes into the drive back home on the interstate, whack!, a rock hit the windshield. Didn’t think any more about it until two days later we were pairing my wife’s phone and then we saw it. Good news is that a glass repair place I’ve used in the past got the exact OEM glass (heated, solar att.) and did a good job on the install, and I was out a $250 deductible. Only thing I noticed was at the bottom of the A pillar, both pieces of small black trim are a little higher, exposing the edge of the ppf we had installed a couple of weeks ago. From the sounds of it, it probably won’t be our last windshield replacement!

I have not used XPEL but used another product I can't remember the name of. The one I used did not work...Curious to hear from those who used XPEL
