Yup, I was ready to set up for a trip today, waiting with the engine idling in my driveway, and I heard a cracking noise. Sure enough, it was my windshield.
The Defender was outside for about 2 hrs, in the sun. Outside temp - 95 deg.
I am not sure who manufactures the windshields for JLR, but since 2018 I had about 5 that cracked either from a pebble size rock, in the sun, or just plain tension in the glass.
Not sure if there is ANY other manufacturer in the world with such horrible windshields.
This could be concerning, but I've had other vehicles where a crack seems to appear from nowhere (no obvious signs of an impact). I think all windshields are just garbage these days. Either thinner for efficiency / weight, or maybe just rocks have just gotten sharper. I replaced two in my last vehicle and the second windshield had some chips / gouges. It got to the point where I was afraid to drive it on the highway for fear of a third replacement being necessary (as I waited for my Defender to come in).
I honestly don't know of any other brand / vehicle being so bad with windshields.
See, you were afraid of driving it ... but I was not even out of my driveway. Stationary.
Most of the time I have it inside, garage. So 1-2 hrs out in the sun, causing that ? I haven't even passed 1500 miles with it. Yeah, I think this doesn't only call for NHTSA (which is mostly useless) but for a class action.

I agree but not reporting it doesn't help. The best we could hope for would be a TSB to get it under warranty and I'm in Florida where windshields are no deductible "and a box of steaks".
Problem for me is I obliterated a deer at 65mph last year for $8k and my wife's car just had $6k in hail damage. Not to mention my wife's car getting shot twice 3 years ago. Pretty sure the next claim doesn't matter if it's not my fault, I'll be paying more.

@_Allegedly - wow .., that will get expensive quick, I agree.
I am going to file with NHTSA as well.
Just got word from the dealership that they indeed do have the windshield available, and they want the money upfront (.... where did I hear that before ?...)
Anyways, it is a nice 2230.94 $ installed.
Now I have to fight the insurance to get it paid (- my deductible).

If there is no evidence of impact damage then I would be arguing that it should be replaced under warranty as a manufacturing defect.
Got this three weeks ago. Drove it home from North Carolina, then down to the coast; probably put 1500 miles on it. Had to raise the seat all the way up to see over it. New one supposed to be here 9/30.
