Angry Windshield Grievances

I don't have anything new or profound to say; I'm just here to vent to the community, that I've been hoping and waiting for a new windshield for my 90s since April. I called Safelight again today and the rep mentioned there is still no ETA from Land Rover. She mentioned she has a desk full of people waiting for different Land Rover replacements.

Here in Maryland we are in the middle of a ridiculous heat wave, it was 99 in Baltimore today. This is not great weather for a cracked windshield which has grown considerably over the months.
It also looks like I'm going to have to rent a vehicle for my cross country trip; I just don't know if I can be comfortable driving > 3K miles with a cracked windshield (it's about 13 total inches of crack now).

Has anyone else been waiting months for a new windshield?

Other than that, I still do really love the vehicle. I'll upgrade my speakers, and do some sound deadening after I get the windshield fixed. I hope.

I had to replace a windshield last fall and managed to get OEM glass within two weeks. But I did have a road trip during that time while I had a similarly large crack. From Seattle to Glacier and back (plus lots of driving through the park) and had no issues.

I have had a stereotypical mis-spent youth. In those circumstances, I did a lot with a little. Heck, let me call it what it is - I was BROKE. As a result, I would NEVER replace a broken windshield unless I had to. I've spent a lot of time and a lot of miles driving with a broken window. You will be absolutely fine as long as it's not some basketball shatter in front of the steering wheel. A single long crack will be a bigger irritant than a safety problem. It absolutely sucks and I feel for you. But if I were you, I'd keep on driving. The only thing to note is that depending on the crack, it may prematurely wear out your windshield wipers. So bring a spare or be prepared for a streak where it wears the wiper. Good luck!

Do you have a photo of the crack?

Have you dealer mark your VIN inoperable. Will move you a few paces ahead in the queue.
