On the MY22 model X, the seats are described as "Winsor Leather & Steelcut premium textile seats" - what is the "steelcut premium textile" mean, and where on the seat is it? The dealer hasn't been able to explain. I'm looking for an ALL-leather seat (seating surface) and some models (the X-Dynamic) have the outer edge trimmed with the "Robustek" fabric. I want to make sure my 2nd order arrives with what I'm expecting.

It’s a bit confusing, but they mean oatmeal. The seats of the X are stuffed with steelcut oatmeal. It’s a safety/survival feature. In the event that emergency sustenance is required, the seats may be unzipped and the oatmeal removed. Then it’s a simple matter of cooking it in the radiator, which converts into a boiler pot. This is assuming you have the Advanced Gullibility package.

Either that, or they mean the sides of the seats are trimmed with Kvadrat textiles, either the Steelcut 2 or Steelcut Trio 3, I’m unsure which. These fabrics are both comprised of 90% worsted wool and 10% nylon. Info below:

Thanks for the info on what Steelcut fabric is and confirming that the seating surface is all leather with the steelcut on the sides. Neither the LR site or my dealer could tell me for certain.

 

Some owners are complaining the fabric stains/fades pretty easily.

 

I thought that staining issue was on the seat face with the "Robustek" fabric trim? I was under the impression the Steelcut textile was not on the seating surface?

 

The Robustec is the fabric covered in micro PU platelets, it has had no issues with staining. Robustec is on X-dynamic models.

The staining has been a problem on the ROBUST WOVEN TEXTILE fabric. Which was on 2020 and 2021 S and SE models. It has been discontinued for 2022 which i believe is due to the staining.

 

TSB is not clear on which fabric is the problem but I've seen a few posts about people getting full-leather recently when they were expecting a fabric surround.

Hopefully not Robustek since that will be the trim on my X-Dynamic and I actually like the way it looks.

My MY22 X-Dynamic came in this weekend, and it had the Robustec trim around the face of the seat&back. I'm re-ordering an X model as I'm wanting all-leather on the full face of the seat&back.

 

FWIW the XS model also has full leather....
