It may be you need a hardware replacement. The early 2020 and 2021 Defenders have an older version of he wireless charging pad that doesn't charge iphone 12 and 13s. My charger was replaced since the software was not able to fix the issue and all works fine.

Thanks. I am sure I will need to get JLR involved as the dealership gave me the runaround when I suggested that solution.

can confirm that the dealer will swap out the charging pad if you have a 2020/21 Defender. I had it done @ the Mission Viejo, CA dealership back in October with no issue. iPhone 12 Pro works perfectly now.

The iPhone 12 & 13 work very poorly on wireless chargers because Apple introduced MagSafe into them. It's a magnetic ring inside the back of the phone. Those magnets interfere with the wireless power transfer field and cause the issues. There is no way to fix that if you have an older version of the wireless charging hardware. It sounds like they have new wireless charging hardware that may support the new iPhones. My guess is they charge slow and get the phone very hot.

Also, if you are using a case, that will make things much worse. Try taking the case off (or getting a thinner case) and you might see better results.

I've been quite pleased with the wireless charging on a 110 2022, it seems to charge quickly and doesn't over heat the phone, in comparison to my experiences with BMW & Mini. I'm using a iPhone 12 with an otter box case. One thing I do do is always place the top of the phone toward the drivers seat (Left Hand Drive) and put the phone all the way to the left, toward the drivers seat also. It usually takes a few seconds before the phone begins to charge, but I haven't had any issues with this setup... so far.

Default iPhone 12 charger issue reason

At first, I thought it was the car, but the dealer confirmed it must be something with iPhone 12s. None of the iPhone 12s I tried at home will work on the charging pad, but the dealer could put an Android, and three other models of iPhones on the charging pad and they all worked.

The phone will light up when placed on the pad, but will not show the lightning bolt for more than a few seconds. The indicator on the Pivi screen has a diagonal line though it.

In the end, they could not find an issue with the car and said it must be a iPhone 12 issue. Anyone else have the same issue?

Rob
The iPhone 12 camera extends out too far from the phones body thereby preventing a connection.
