I purchased these some magnetic rings designed to make a phone magsafe compatible and glued one centrally over the lighting symbol on the rubber charge pad cover. Now my iPhone (magsafe) jumps to the correct location when I put it down.

Something like this
Amazon.com: ESR HaloLock Universal MagSafe Ring 360, MagSafe Conversion Kit, MagSafe Sticker, Compatible with iPhone 13/13 Pro/13 mini/13 Pro Max/12/12 mini/12 Pro/12 Pro Max/11, Galaxy S21/S20 etc, 2 Pack, Black : Cell Phones & Accessories Amazon.com: ESR HaloLock Universal MagSafe Ring 360, MagSafe Conversion Kit, MagSafe Sticker, Compatible with iPhone 13/13 Pro/13 mini/13 Pro Max/12/12 mini/12 Pro/12 Pro Max/11, Galaxy S21/S20 etc, 2 Pack, Black : Cell Phones & Accessories

You do need to glue the magnet upside down.

Hmm so I will have to check my phone next time its on the pad, to verify its actually charging. I did tap it the other day and saw its lightning bolt icon top right corner so assumed all was happy. But did not check phone battery level after the drive....
I like @waldoverkill idea but not crazy about gluing something to the pretty pad

Well this update does charge an iPhone 12. Unfortunately, it does not address the problem of the charger causing the phone to overheat. Yesterday, I had the phone on the pad for a bit more than two hours and it was very, very hot. Not enough to turn off and go into safe mode, but my guess another hour on the pad would have done it.

At first, I thought it was the car, but the dealer confirmed it must be something with iPhone 12s. None of the iPhone 12s I tried at home will work on the charging pad, but the dealer could put an Android, and three other models of iPhones on the charging pad and they all worked.

The phone will light up when placed on the pad, but will not show the lightning bolt for more than a few seconds. The indicator on the Pivi screen has a diagonal line though it.

In the end, they could not find an issue with the car and said it must be a iPhone 12 issue guide here mytechsimply.com. Anyone else have the same issue?

My iPhone 12 won’t charge on wireless charger, approved chargers are being used. Additionally I have a new car with wireless slot, will charge iPhone 11 but not iPhone 12. Is this a bug?

It's been a while since I had an iPhone 12 and I didn't have my Defender with wireless charging then. I do recall some issues that this article might help with - basically a hard iPhone reset. I don't recall what version of iOS will run on the iPhone 12 but it should run iOS 16, and likely iOS 17 based on my recollection so it's worth checking for software updates if the reset process from the article didn't correct the problem. I can confirm my iPhone 14 Pro Max (& wife's iPhone 15 Pro Max) charges fine on the Defenders integrated center console wireless charging pad. I have not tested with external charging pads.

I have an ear;ly 2020 Defender HSE and they had a TSB to replace the wireless charging pad since the early hardware could not charge the iphone 12 and later. I would get a line through the charging icon when phone was on pad. New hardware now shows charging, but i never get the battery to increase its charge with the wireless charging pad. It show its charging but to no avail.

My 2020 110X also originally didn't charge because it was falsely detecting metal/a non-phone item laying on the pad. At some point a software update resolved the issue. But as others have mentioned it does little more than make the phone super hot and usually won't actually add battery percentage. This was the case for my 14 Pro Max and the same for my newer 15 Pro Max. I've completely stopped using it for the past year+. USB-C cable works fine for me.
