Years/powertrains to avoid? Looking at buying.
I like the overall simplicity of the P300, but when I rented a Defender almost identical to my own on Turo with a P300, I found it to be lacking in the get up and go department. While the P400 may have little issues (and in the grand scheme of things - they are little) its definitely the smallest engine I'd get in the truck.
Coming from a tuned Audi SQ5, which was ~450 hp & 1,000+ lbs lighter, I am still trying to adjust to the slower acceleration of my 130 with the P400. However, for it's size I would say the P400 does just fine. We did purchase the extended 5 year / 100k warranty through the dealership for piece of mind since we bought it used. I read up on some of the issues going in beforehand.
If we could have swung it, we would have gone with a V8 since more power is always better.

Sounds like everyone is pleased with whatever motor they have. The turbo 4 might be what I start my search with. Haven’t driven one yet but if I can find a white one with steel wheels I will at the very least go take a look at it.
Another vote for the P300. And if you do end up test driving or living with it in city/hilly/stop and go traffic, tipping the gear lever to S for sport gives it a little added punch and (more importantly) holds onto lower gears for longer for better acceleration, and less braking.
I have a 2020 110X at 33000 miles no problems or issues. the occasional low battery warning start your engine disappeared after I used a battery tender when it is not in use. then a long 2000 mile round trip drive fixed it. the lane keep assist actually helped in the last 130 miles of the trip to the Ritz Carlton. I can only remember the last 5 miles to the hotel.
