15th Annual Uwharrie Rover Expedition
Next weekend is a great family event. This is the one that introduced my daughter to camping, wheeling and Rovers. She also told me she plans on taking my LR3 for her first car after this event....
Here are the details hope to see ya'll there!
This event will be held in the Uwharrie National Forest in Central North Carolina on October 19-21, 2018. We certainly hope that you find all of the information needed on the registration site, and that you have an opportunity to join us!
We will be camping at the Badin Lake Group Campground.

So I forgot to update the thread on this Rover Event.
I got sent out of town for duty during the week leading up to Uwharrie. Got the truck loaded and parked in the drive before I left for work. So I just had to get groceries and load up my daughter and we could take off first thing Saturday morning since I wasn't getting in till 1030ish. So bright and early like 0530ish I woke her up and we rolled out by 6 am. Smooth and uneventful just the way we all like our road trip. 50 miles out we stop for fuel and I thought I smelled brakes. Checked each wheel and all seemed fine. So we hit the road. About 1/4 mile later I knew something was very wrong. Pulled off the road and the passenger front tire had smoke pouring off it. So in my mind I knew the caliper was dead, or the hub which would cause the rotor to cant into the pads.
We had passed a Advance Auto a couple miles back. So we limped there and I tore in. Caliper was locked up tight. Did what I could to free it up and it was not promising, They did not have a caliper in stock, so we made the call to limp home and use the brakes sparingly.
So the bad was we didn't make it to one of our absolute favorite events with a great Land Rover club and the LR3 was wounded. For those that don't know I wheel this truck and daily drive it so that was my way to work.
The good was 6 plus hours of one on one time with the best daughter a guy could ask for. Oh yeah and the Rover made it home without missing a beat.
We even decided we are going to organize a Overland trip so that others can join in the fun over Memorial Day. More to follow on that but it will be free to join in the fun just like the Coal Country run I put together in September.

Sorry to hear about the mechanical difficulities. I know you've done some wheeling with that rover, so you may want to replace brake hose, along with caliper. Since you may have over stretched it, causing a break internally.
And yeah, sometimes these unexpected turn of events would normally ruin an outing...but you just roll with them and make the best of it. Weather changed the our plans, last trip...but we still had a great time. Granted, we weren't heading to a big get together or nothing.
Brian.
