Road Trip 2009!
Hello,
Just wanted to get some advice from anyone out there before embarking on a 2 month road trip.
I am looking to take a road trip from the San Francisco Bay Area across the U.S. to New Jersey. I was planning on taking the long way, getting to see plenty of cool stuff along the way. Having just looked at the map, it looks like this trip will put around 6,500 - 7,000 miles on my rover. I really want to make sure she makes it the whole way without any problems. Is there anything anyone out there can suggest? Just want to make sure I've got all my bases covered.
About my rover.
2002 Discovery II, bought it with 54,007 now has 61,002.
Since I've had it I've taken care of the following things. Limp mode, new marine battery now in place, new crank sensor, had the bearings replaced, complete 60K service (including engine oil filter cleaning). The mechanic said the car did great after the service no problems. Currently I am getting the 3 amigos to pop up every 100-150 miles. I'm debating getting them fixed ($850), but not sure if I really need it. I was going to get new michellen tires put on before I go ... anything else anyone would suggest?
I've had the drive shaft looked at, no problems there. I'm not leaking anti-freeze, so I'm not too worried about having a head gasket problem.
any advice anyone has ... lets hear it : )
Thanks in advance,
- Mark
