rusty brush guard
my D1 front brush guard is got a bad case of the flakey rust. I would like to touch it up so the rust does not continue and it looks OK.. Not looking for perfect, just OK. I tried some rust converter and paint, but it din't last too long before starting to rust again. I don't really have a good setup for removal and sand blasting , but I am thinking that may be my best bet for a refinish that will last.
Any suggestions??

Unfortunately its not painted its powdercoat,, once it chips and rust get under it forget it, short of full sandblast, plus the tubing is thin and cheap and also rusts from the inside out, so anything you do is a temporary bandaid
ive always used a product on my VW's, called por-15 its a great rust inhibitor and prep before painting, ive done many a brush gaurds and frames on the vw's with it. and never had a rust problem again. ask for it or buy it off amazon or whatever site you use. if you want a decent job and not a showroom powdercoat. you can do some simple sanding on the bar first. the coat with por-15 and then paint. simple dimple and easy on the wallet.
