Default GPS unit recommendation

My friend is planning to buy a new GPS unit. There are so many different models to choose from and he has no idea what to look. He is looking for a good GPS unit with features like voice controlled, easy to use, that can reroute, able to select shortest time, shortest distance, highway, etc. Please recommend the best brand.
by the way his budget is around $400-$500.

I think the Garmin nüvi 765/765T is the best out there. the only thing it is lacking is maps of Europe. but it does have free lifetime traffic.
