Default Installing new head unit in D2

Hey all, new owner of a 99 LRD2. Is it an easy swap to put in a head unit in this thing or is there anything special?
Can I just get a wiring harness, a single DIN radio and away I go?

Also, is there a device to retain stock steering wheel control in an aftermarket unit?
Thanks much! And I'm sure this has been covered, I just didn't find a quiock simple answer if there is one.

it has to be pretty straightforward because I did it and hardly remember. I spliced into the harness from the old radio and used it. my cheap unit came with provisions for wheel control and I somehow figured that out too.
i'm not a radio guy. I have never set my presets, its still in demo mode and it has been years. you can get a double din in there too. look at armyrover's thread (and others....his is recent) "life with a free d2"
he has some kind of fancy pants flip up thing in there......
