Worked on the rack today. My ambition level lately has been nonexistent, so l forced myself get going on this thing. Bought this rack, which was a ladder rack for a truck bed, shorten it up and added support brackets. Still a lot to be done, but it felt good to see it on the roof. Sure makes it nice that l'm able to use the overhead crane at work for this. On and off, on and off again with no sweat or tears. Unsure of the floor material and a few other things (attaching old light bar off Dll). But, it closer to being done now...than say 8 hours ago...lol.
It will have to come off one more time, for floor structure and flooring and paint.
Thank you. I'm thinking about utilizing the upper tubes in the rear by sliding smaller tubes inside, then pull them out for a canopy. They ran the vertical support tube partially through the upper tubing, so I have to make a boring tool...out of a hole saw bit...to clean that out. Not looking for a huge canopy, just something to cover the door while cooking or while raining.
Been meaning to ask you, since you got the new rims...will you be using the wheel spacers...if not...l'd be interested in buying them.
Also, are you bringing the defender or LR3? I'm thinking about driving the 110 out, but unsure at the moment. Is there camping at the event area, and do l have to make reservations?
Adding a lock storage compartment.
I'll make a cover for it, out of rear seat material and foam.
