Nice RR Robert...

I notice you changed out your exhaust manifold gaskets a little while ago. How did you diagnose the problem? The reason I ask is that I think mine might need replacing on the 95 D1 - I have a noisy exhaust and poor fuel consumption.

noisy exhaust - check
horrendous fuel consumption - check

no matter how much the manifold got tightened down, the exhaust would sound like it was leaking air from the manifold on the drivers side. Both sides were gone but the drivers side was the worst. I ultimately knew it was the manifold gaskets because if i tightened them while running the engine, the sound would die down for a bit, then return once i removed pressure on the manifold studs.

Since replacing the manifold gaskets and adding in the full stainless magnaflow system, not only does the car sound amazing, but fuel consumption is dramatically improved.

Thats great thanks Robert,
I'll look into it a bit more but im think i'll be following in your footsteps lol. I'm starting cheap and easy with the manifold to y pipe gaskets then the manifold to head gaskets if that doesnt solve it.
Cheers
Dave

Replaced the transmission and power steering lines yesterday. Messy but no more leaks!

I spoke too soon about leaks, the power steering pump has a drip

I'm pulling the car from daily driver duties in a week for a summer refit.

todo's:
water pump (preventative)
heater matrix (not excited about this at all)
central door locks (need to fix this once and for all)
heated seats (repair the elements)
recharge AC
replace upper tailgate frame.

Just to make Senor Blanco jealous i picked up a '93 LWB "Sable edition" last Friday. 120k miles with a still functioning EAS system and immaculate interior but tired body. My goal is to make this my first LS3 powered car and will be completely rebuilding it over the next 8 months.

fun times, white classic threw a check engine light last night. Code 17 the throttle potentiometer.

Mental note please shoot the designer than determined you need to pull off the seat trim to view the diagnostic display!

Replaced the Potentiometer temporarily with one from my black classic but need a new part now. Anyone got the inside track on a new Throttle Potentiometer? my usual sources all say no longer available?
