Any issues dealing with CannibalV8? Seems to be a 50/50 split of good luck / bad luck stories online.

I have had my truck back with the new CannibalV8 for a little over a week now. It took longer than expected due to some issues that were out of the ordinary. Steve addressed the issues and was great to deal with. Despite the time it took, I am happy with the end result. The motor is strong, runs great and doesn't leak a drop!

Yesterday I finished re-finishing my Safari Gard bumper and bolted it on. I just need to bolt on the skid plate, wire the winch and trim the grille. I was stoked to find the SG because I think it is one of the best looking bumpers made for the D1/2! I'm loving the look, now just need to get it out on some trails!

To say the least, that is a beautiful engine. But your truck will rust to pieces underneath if it doesn't leak oil. Just kidding.

Is it is 4.0 or 4.6? What specs did you get? How much was it? I've always been interested in Cannibal v8. How's the gas mileage? Seat of the pants feel good?

You're are probably right!

It's the 4.6 "Signature" line with the performance cam, tophat liners, hot sealed engine block coolant passages, ceramic coated exhaust manifolds. The gas mileage seems to be about the same. I am averaging around 12mpg. Seat of the pants power feels great. I can feel a big difference in power from the upgraded cam.

Thanks! Glad to hear the Trek is still running strong. Luke, John and Chuck at The Shop are great people to deal with! I just wish I was closer to their shop.

I haven't posted here in a while, so I'll do a quick update. The Superwinch X9 that was on the SafariGard bumper was in need of a rebuild. I tore it down, cleaned and re-greased, and repainted what needed to be.

I also made new cables and replaced the old solenoids with an upgraded solenoid. Name: 56EE4CE9-F5F9-4162-86D5-9A47A264F6F9_zps7cex1tnx.jpg

Spooled on a synthetic line w/Viking thimble from Southeast Overland and it was done. Name: 28C91A7E-A84A-4A19-813E-67C99952F159_zps5wf7bz8h.jpg

Next I wired up the 3 Hella 4000's for the front bumper.

With all the extra weight on the front I also swapped the Terrafirma MD springs for HD springs. This lifted the front back up where it was and improved the ride.

Plasti-Dipped the hood.

And added an ARB Awning. Ready for some fall camping and exploring! Name: IMG_4307_zpsfqxvalew.jpg

It's been over a year since I have updated this thread. I've been driving the truck a lot, trails, camping, etc. I just added a set of Terrafirma rock sliders over the Thanksgiving holidays. More to come soon I hope. And hopefully more pictures of me using it out in the backcountry like it was meant to be used!
