I would make it so it's easy to get to the fuel pump, should you ever have to.
Many ways to do it, whatever you prefer.
Looks good though.

Are you attaching the wood on the sides to existing bolt holes?

Strapping is attached via existing bolt holes then everything is screwed/nailed to strapping boards.
