Cuz you don't have all the tools to make em the easy way. You need at minimum a brake, rollers, english wheel and......a plasma - zip zip done.
I don't know if you've read the thread on British V8 about the guy rebuilding the body on an XKE but it's beautiful!!!!! That guy has everything to make beautiful panels. So what if it's taken 3 years to get the body back together.......

You need to step up that welder!
Folks always 'under buy' when it comes to welders, but every body has their own budget as well.
You can get a Chinese plasma off ebay for short money, like 200 bucks, and they work just like the name brand $1,800 ones do.
Tractor Supply sells small hand brakes for under 300 bills.
Bench shears are nice & inexpensive, and they allow you to cut shapes as well as straight.
I'm not big on the small welders, but consider a Lincoln or Miller at least 140 amps for what your into......Look at HTP/usaweld if you want to get a little more serious, it's the only brand that still uses copper windings.
Probably stuff you already know, just offering support!

The main reason I still have a really small flux core mig is the 110v limitation. No 240 in my garage and I rent so tearing out walls to add it would probably be frowned upon lol. Now at my Dad's there is 240 but I wanted something I could use at my place so....
I've been eyeballing the Hobart 140. That and there is a pretty sexy used snap on mig set up near me for $400

Hobart is 'ok', it's deff. home owner grade since the sisters sold out to Miller, it's still limited.....
Now a days, the better/small machines use inverters so they still draw off 110....If it's in your budget, check out HTP's 140, excellent machine!
HTP/USAWELD machines are intended to be serviced by it's owner, plug & play technology with phone support.....You'll never throw it away or pay $65.00 to diagnose the problem with your welder, then $125.00 an hour to have it repaired by service tech. (Lincoln/Miller Distributers)
I don't know who builds the Snap-On welders, possibly Lincoln.

I still run my old Lincoln 100 I bought 20 years ago and converted to migg, the throat less shear from hf is awesome for cutting small custom panels, dad and I used to do small Fab for some restorations we did, the big slip roll shear brake from hf is junk the casting cracks and breaks, I broke 2,second is put of warrenty and so its a giant paper weight
