It's not a Rover build thread, MGB with Ford 302 power :D

Well all good things come to a end, the driveshaft I think has spit out a u-joint. So I had to leave the MGB at work where I had luckily stored the Disco II. That was on Tuesday so I ordered a pair of u-joints and got those today and brought the spare drive shaft with me that has a bad u-joint as well. So since I have duty all weekend I'll rebuild the drive shaft in my spare time on my desk. Then swap it out in the parking lot. Luckily the drive shaft is pretty easy to pull on these.

Just so you know once you start it never ends Get it going they are great fun to drive even though they are so slow that Series III can beat it off the line lol

Well got the driveshaft replaced and that was not the issue....

So, I drained and refilled the rear diff no metal shavings or chunks. It was maybe 1/2 a pint low but nothing to concerning. Found a loose nut on the right rear shock tightened that and no change.

Checked for play at the pinion flange and the transmission output flange everything seems good to me.

The passenger side motor mount seems a little weak but it definitely has not failed.

Next check I guess is front wheel bearings. After that I'm out of ideas.

The weirdest part is in sweeping right hand curves the vibration goes away.

Yesterday I spent the day chasing my tail on the vibration. I inspected the front wheel bearings nothing wrong there, found worn brake pads so I did a quick brake job and kept hunting. Couldn't find any reason for the vibration, so for now I'm living with it.

So today I got a few free hours with nice weather so it was time to correct the primer gray hood. I didn't have enough leftover dip to do a color match. So I did some thinking and decided to take it from this....

Better pics will come tomorrow with a little luck. Another plus of this project is I got to try out my new spray system that I will be using on the 110. It was a drastic improvement over the old set up. It should produce some really great results on the 110 project.

I remember an RRC that kinda looked the same way.........

Man, the sun really makes that dip pop! Huge change from overcast.

When are you going to toss a V8 in that skate? This is one of my other great sites I visit often; BritishV8 Forum:

It's a original chrome bumper car so the mod list to fit the V8 is huge. To be honest I would go small block ford rather than the RV8.

I've been eyeballing a 13b rotary as of late, looks like no cross member mods and I can keep the heater. Plus the though of 8.5k rpm redline and a highly tune-able motor sounds fun.

Oh and thanks for the compliments She looks great in the sun, to bad it was overcast and raining all day today.

Your welcome bud.

Just started raining here finally, need it BAD, super dry.

Huh, never thought of a rotary, you just blew my mind....... Wow, that would sound and perform wicked in a lightweight.

I had a girlfriend with an RX7 and she had bigger you know whats than me, no problem keeping up with my Z28. I should've married her instead! Long story.....

Well the fuel injected N/A are around 150 hp, and weigh in 200 pounds lighter (engine trans combo) than the stock MGB bits. So you gain about 90 hp, and loose 200 pounds seems like a win to me. Plus let's be honest they are very cool sounding motors

Also once the conversion is figured out it probably wouldn't be to difficult to switch to a turbo or twin turbo version....

I'm all in, seriously! I think that would make an awesome transplant. You've obviously done alot of thinking, looking, figuring on it and the sound would be way cool. Almost a mid engine layout too. Serious skate. I'm looking at some engines around $1300 to $1600 with a five year warranty...... which by itself is incredible since they're used engines.... Yeah, I think you've got it figured out. You got me thinking about it.

Been doing a bit of research lol.

This site had some decent pics and info. Part of me wants to go NA carbed for the simplicity of the swap. Fab some mounts deal with cooling and just a touch of wiring. Then you should be good to go.
