Arrow LR D2 From a $400 Disco II to Road Worthy

Recently bought a 1999 Disco II for $400

The problem, so says the previous owner, was the "brain" needs to be reprogrammed. The vehicle would run for a good 5-10 minutes then stall and not crank over at all. After it sat for 4-6 months (lucky at a steep incline -front higher than the rear - I'll will explain later). The kid selling the vehicle took my offer of $400 and the tow (75 miles) cost $100. After getting the vehicle to the local shop for a lookover (cost $0) but they could not figure it out. Had towed home for $150.

Running (not the Rover) total - $650.

After looking over the Disco, I noticed a wet carpet and the windows were building moisture up on inside... A LEAK. and you guessed it - the Sunroofs. So I immediately put the Disco under a canopy and began what was a week (and still going) drying-the-interior-out process. A long story short...... The Disco runs like a Champ and not longer stalls. The ECU, BCU, and even the Sunroof ECU had moisture exposure and I dried them out the best I could. (Sidenote - If this Rover sat any longer, I think everything would have been shot). Once all these components (and many others) were dried out, the Disco ran and drove, and even the turn signals worked again, along with everything else... Again, at this point I have spent $650 plus $30 in gas but we wont count gas

Now to the substance... Here are some pics of the process-in-action, and I plan to post pics as the project goes along. But thus far, we have order (1) sunroof motor $70, (2) 9 yards of camo headliner fabric $50.

Running Total $770

Plan to install a Disco I tcase linkage to this Disco II to make use of the locking tcase (or really not worthy of trailing)

Will post more details and other important things... This is my 4th Disco II

Nicely done. Now clear out the sunroof drains and make sure they drain properly....or just silicone seal the heck out of them.

Nice job, you stole that discovery. Always nice when you find a fixer-upper. Looking forward to following along in your build project.

Brian.
