Man, I'm kind of wondering about the quality of the AB engines
given my experience, I’d stay away but other than a LS and turner I’m not sure what other options are available esp for us folks in California who need to stay carb compliant. The customer service at AB has been great but at the same time it’s super frustrating to have constant issues with these engines.
At the advice of the shop that fixed my trans line, I sealed the leak at the oil bypass valve using high temp sealant. that fixed the leak for now until my shop can pull the front cover, but it also exposed seepage at the crank seal…sigh.
I have a camping trip this Thursday, so I’m hoping my shop can fix the crank seal before the trip.
while the sealant was crying, I did some test fitting of a 5 gallon water jug. Luckily there was enough room between my rotopax and the brackets for the recovery boards that I did not have to remount any of the existing brackets on the rack. Finally a small win.

Shop took care of all the leaks and I was able to take project $$$ pit out camping with friends and family. Truck performed great in 100 deg heat with AC blasting and not a single drop of oil was found.
Other than another leaky axle seal, project $$$ pit has been running great. Took the truck out to Signal Peak with some buddies one of which just got his 100 series so we had to put some scratches and dings in it.
New Boss head unit with apple car play and reverse camera. Steering wheel controls are functional. Quite a rats nest of wires from the prior radio install.
More mods for project $$$ pit. I picked up a rear cargo shelf from Golden Rovers. Fitment is perfect and install was a breeze. Took about an hour from start to finish.
