Hey there LR forums,
I'll be documenting my TD5/R380 swap in this thread. But first let me introduce you to Moss (my new as of today) 03 Venetian Green over black SE. Its got all the bits we know and love the ACE system, Self leveling suspension, 2 glorious sunroof (foreshadowing), and a heaping amount of mold. She sat outside in the PNW with both sunroofs leaking for over a year and now she is mine.

Below is a summary of day 1.

Here is where it had been sitting for the past year plus.
The prior owner is an awesome guy who had made alot of great memories with her, unfortunately he lives in apartment that is strict on not allowing people to wrench.



He did his best to stop the leak.


But the water found its way in.






Step 1 Ozone treatment for 2 hours.


Thats better.



Yes precautions.


The passenger side is the worst of it.



Not only is it a doing a good impression of a terrarium, it has a waterfall when you tip down the visor.





Oh and did I mention the rodent that was a bit hungry... I've yet to find whatever it was.


Here is the TD5.


I pulled all off the front half of what I need to get the headliner our before I needed to head in for the night. Overall a great day and a great start to the project.

 

how are you getting a td5 in the states right now? should be a year or two away from being able to bring them in.

 

Thanks for asking whowa, They first installed the TD5's in D2's in 1998 so now they are legal to import. I managed to source the entire swap kit (engine, trans, all wiring, clutch pedal, cooling system, and engine mounts) from a nice guy from Canada. I had no issues at the border So I think they are considering all TD5's to be 1998. If your interested in the swap I can get you in touch with my guy. I'll be posting up all his info soon in a separate post.

 

Hmm interesting. Especially since the D2 didn't come about until 99.5 maybe it went into Defenders in 98, that said awesome you got it through no issue. I'm sure CO might throw a fit but I've been fascinated by the thought of this swap for a while now.

 

Glad to see you're using a respirator, that looks nasty. How much bleach do you think you'll be using?
