Army.......Tell your daughter to never put money on the puddy-tatt.....

Alrighty then......Got some pretty extensive damage here, to include that 'U' channel piece some may have a fancy Land Rover British word for.......I think 'Gutter' is fitting.

So.....as it sit's....not very mobile with snow in the forecast, currently it's dry and drip free so.........Let's address the floor in a sympathetic manor and address the 'gutter' at a later date when time permits........I have 4.5 hours of 'hustle' into this repair, I allowed myself yesterday afternoon, it needs to be out of the shop. This is a very sympathetic repair, but over all.....it didn't come out half bad, I decided all welds on this side for speed.

How does that song go?.......Isn't she lovely, isn't she wonderful.......lets all sing together.......

So you can't hang wall paper without a wall......template time!

Starting point was the vertical area, built off if from there......

Whole floor was pretty much soft......Bye Bye.......and so since I have some exposed frame.....let's go ahead and clean that up too.....

So anywho........work your way around, prep your new panel.....botta bing botta boom.......get 'er welded down in place......

Seam sealer.........Don't forget your seam sealer!!

And lastly......a quick prime to button up your work!

Basically done, currently seam sealing the underside, I'll follow that with bedliner spray. Non of this is attached to the outside portion of the 'gutter' on purpose.......I'll be going back and addressing that area at a later date, when time allows and I can think more about that repair which will most likely be required on both sides..........so that's about it.

Oh, almost forgot..........Don't forget to pick up your old floor!!

All repairs were 14ga and 11gage steel.......way thicker than factory so she's ready for the next 20 years!!! (well, maybe the floors).....

Mark if you have some "U" channel bent up I'd love to double the order. I don't have a brake that can squeeze a shape that tight.

Brain pick time........'Scouts, no one offer's the 'gutter'??
If I was to do it, I'd would think we'd want full length??
What's the most common way people repair this area??

I was considering a tube, eliminating the 'gutter' effect......while I understand the floor would cap the 'U'......it would appear that didn't work out so well for many of us........Seem's a lot of that undercarriage/body mounting simply is a catch-hold for mud and stuff.......not well thought out unless those mud flaps were intended to cover their engineers over sites......

Bugity, Bugity.........

Not sure if they have what you are after but if they don't it's not out there.

You beat me to it....... I was gonna say no US vendors provide body/chassis items only UK. This is the part we're talking about;

Land Rover Discovery/Range Rover Classic Chassis Repair Section - YRM Metal Solutions

For $23 bucks a side plus shipping you can have thicker ga bent up or go with thin wall square tube. I know Markus would have a better plan than stock layout.

Army.......thanks for the link.
It would appear they sell an 'inner' section, and an 'outer' section, which you would weld the two together down the entire seam or length of the 'gutter.
Atleast that's my take on what they're offering........No mention of thickness..

No doubt that's a tight area to bend, you would use finger dies.......

I'll be studying further.......never even measured it out when I had the chance,
was considering a different road.....

Not sure if that's the correct part......not going to put a koozie over a beer can......look further, part we need has an additional bend up top if replacing correctly.......that's like a cover up part you posted.

Yes, I haven't seen anyone show pics of how they've repaired it and you aint kid'n. When I pulled up my front floors the gutter was full of sand front to back and the salt water just sat there soaking in the winter. Finally the bottoms disappeared on both sides after I had vacuumed them and coated. The steel had already been weakened by the time I got to it.
