I have to pay for land lines for the bizz, so cell phones are secondary here....if
you could hear the crappy **** connections I put up with, you'd be on board
with why I do business on land lines.......
The trip was a success, another 1300 miles plugged, steering was awesome,
weather good, the truck ran flawless even pulling too many codes to count!!
I need to purchase this thing a lift or something!!!
More later, to include steering mods.......I grabbed my Dads super duty
computer while down there....it was idle and does every thing but stop your
alimony payments, unbelievable graphic arts programs as well as a drawing
tablet and more crap than I'll ever learn, LED monitor as big as a wall mounted TV......also snagged a card reader for my laptop.....not to mention a
7 cartridge printer which produces photograph grade print's 18 x 30....and
yes I have a ton of ink & studio grade papers.............I just need to find the
on button............
Why I just wrote all that?.......Dunno....
More to come shortly, I will say...........The old super model crack ***** did
exceptionally well.......need to buy her a gift....
Hey.......I made 'sticky' status...........WTH?......now I need to keep handi-
wipes in my glove box!!

Alrighty....Found some time to mess with this new compuker....
My old track/panhard bar........
The new set up, 3/4" x 2" steel, tapered end link connections, machined to fit as required and basically a stock CJ5 tie rod at stock length...
Nothing too all fancy, I traced around the edge of the forged mount on the drivers side, machined that tracing a solid 1/8" deep into the material. I then lightly used my grinder on the forging until I created a virtual exact fit, backed the 3/4" stock with spacer and fitted the bushing area tightly......tapped it all up into place like a piece of puzzle and secured with a 9/16" bolt.....fit perfect, zero movement. Passenger side was a lot easier, fitted the steel, backed it to fill the bushing void, then threw down a couple hot-n-heavy tack welds to secure since that area is just steel.......
The mountains of West Virginia had me butt puckered a few times as they're extremely curvy, up grade/down grade, heavy on the brakes, heavy on the gas roller coaster for 2 hours.....it was a good test, if the parts were to have failed......probably wouldn't be typing this right now......

Trip side note......Ever feel alone? Like, there's no one else out there?
Never saw another D1 out there........not 1......Couple of run down D2's looking extremely sad once I reached my destination.........Sure, 2 hand fulls of newer hardware.......mehh....but not another single D1.......it's a lonely world...
