Yay! That is the best of both worlds - I have absolutely NO idea what LT95 with Overdrive means but I'll take your word for it. You seem to know what you're doing

On a side note, I bumped into a woman at the gas station tonight with a DI. I asked her if she worked on her own Rover and she said 'yes'. She told me she has 370,000 miles on it and hasn't ever had an issue with the head gaskets. Is that possible?!? I told her 'more power to you' as that was unheard of and she said 'well if you take care of them they'll take care of you'.

Interesting, huh?

I have a lot of miles on 3.9's with no head gasket issues. hundreds of thousands of miles, never had one let go (knock on wood)

The LT95 is a 4 speed manual transmission, with a integrated transfer case. It has a vacuum actuated CDL, the gear ratio's are a bit steep as it was also used in the 101 forward control. The overdrive will make it more manageable on the highway. Without the over drive I am running around 3200 rpm at 55 mph, at 65-70 she is really screaming, the over drive will help with that.

Here is the drama queen at home in her spot in the driveway. Hoping to get her in the garage this weekend. Still have to finish unpacking in there... Not to mention install the new garage door opener, if Sears ever comes through on the extension kit. My door is a 8 footer

I have a RRC 4.2 with 250k and a 97 D1 with 208k both on the original head gaskets. The D1 has obd2 and the coolant temp sender reports it sits at a high of 160 on the freeway (153ish at idle in traffic) I need to go and look where the sender is and take some readings at the head with my air thermometer with that is a dramatic difference from the D2.

160? Really? That sounds odd. Odd like your thermostat is stuck in the open position.

I'm sure you already know this.... stock t-stat is 190 deg (88 deg Celsius).
I run a 180 simply to provide an extra margin of error.

Don't want to hijack army rovers build thread but i'll momentarily go off on a d1 cooling temp tangent

I was surprised enough by the temps reported via obd2 that I'm breaking out my ir thermometer. This is my first GEMS engine and other than changing a leaking oil pressure switch, I haven't looked to see if the ect sender is in the same position as on the 14cux and Bosch engines. (I'm assuming it is)

so could be a bad fhermostat or maybe a bad sender. I just picked up the car so lots of work to do after getting it through emissions yesterday.

back to this thread. Have you considered an r380 + lt230 swap on your 110? Now I've driven a car with an r380 in it, I'm considering getting one for my 109, just so much more driveable.

Robert, I did consider it but I would have issues with the fitment. Apparently I would need to switch out the trans tunnel and the seat box or modify whats there already.

So I decided that sticking with the LT95 is easiest.

Also since I have the expedition and the MGB I have decided the 110 can be a little less stock.

By a little less stock I'm thinking in the 35-37" range on the tires and the suspension to match..... The over the top ratio's then become a benefit as I won't need new gears front and rear. I'll actually end up at stock rpm for a 3.9 with a ZF and 3.54 gears

Of course than I will wish I had a 9 foot door

Now there's a plan!
Are you going to have to upgrade axles to run tires that large? The 110 has a rear salsbury right?

The rear is a Sals and it should be fine I would think. It will eventually get a Detroit locker or similar.

The front however is going to need some love I'm sure. I'm either going to have to build the hell out of it, axles and TT or Ashcroft locker, or find a Salisbury front axle, but I'm not super hopeful on that. I'd love the front Salisbury though that would be awesome!

You're going to need an LS to push that thing down the freeway

i'm having a similar dillemma with my 109. It needs shocks and springs, but it could really use an upgraded transmission , steering and brakes to make it a safer daily driver.
