"You should just get a Jeep"... My 04' Disco Build Thread
I don't hang out with smart people, or maybe I do? Oh well, I'm doing this. Hey, here's what I'm starting with...
2004 Discovery SE7 (Not sure what the "7" means) with 106,000 miles with very light structure rust from the looks of it. At least I can't stick my finger anywhere within the frame that I'm not supposed too.
I picked this guy up on eBay a few weeks ago ($8500), drove it 10 miles from the delivery Truck driver, and parked it in my garage and stared tearing it down and ordering parts.... Lots of parts.
Within the first 48 hours there we 2 junk yard runs and the following parts ordered:
7 means passenger, you'll have two addition fold down seats in the rear cargo area. Interested in the fan conversion details when you install it. What was your vehicle of choice prior?

Ah, makes sense. thanks. The fan install post is coming soon, just waiting on a few more parts to show up. My initial vehicle choice was a 3rd generation 4Runner. However, I'm 6'2" on a good day with a family and it was getting too tight of a fit, and a Land Cruiser seemed too big. This lil Disco seems to be the perfect middle.
I did receive my drive shafts last night and installed the front with no issues. New Woods rear and front driveshafts Stock front on the left, Woods front on the right
When I went to install the rear, I quickly noticed that the rear flange is the rubber donut type, so now I'm waiting on more parts, picking up the rear flange conversion.
This should be all I need, right? No spaces or anything?
I'm in Denver and my parents are in Sterling Ranch if you ever need a hand or someone to wheel with. There is a pretty active Colorado Land Rover group on facebook again filled with a lot of local knowledge.
