This is a 1985 Defender 110 that I'm looking at importing to the USA from the EU. Does this Cassis VIN stamp look correct? I'm noticing that its missing the 6 point security asterisk on each side. Is this a problem? Any insight would be much appreciated.

The frame may have been restamped

That looks about the same as my 89 110. They are crudely done by hand, sloopy to say the least, very common to be uneven and in no way look "machine done/factory" like American made vehicles. I'd say if that number matches vin plate on brake booster housing...it would be good to go. And as long as it meets all of the other factors, like original engine and trans, etc.

 

Those are some clean bolts Looks like a new everything?

 

This vehicle has undergone a frame-off restoration, which accounts for the new components.
