1993 tdi
When shutting off the ignition, the lights, stereo, a/c etc. all go off but the engine continues to run. Have to stall it to shut it off.
Alternatively, can give it gas while in neutral, it will rpm up then shut off, but if I do that (as opposed to stalling) it won't start next time until > 10 attempts are performed.
Have replaced the fuel pump, glow plugs, and starter. Temporarily fixed the problem (two weeks of regular driving) then started to do it about every 10th shut off, and now after a month, it's back to doing this on every shut off.
Anyone been through this or have advice?
Local Defender mechanic is also flummoxed ....
