Default Hood (Bonnet) Release Cable Broken - Can't Open Hood

2002 Land Rover Defender
The hood (bonnet) release cable broke inside the engine compartment.
How do I manually release the mechanism to open the hood?

Thank you.

You should be able to remove the front grill and get to the latch from underneath the hood.

i'm in this situation because i just changed the LF headlight, must of disturbed the cable, and the inside, kick-panel level moves freely, no resistance, and the hood doesn't open .. i looked at it and the cable is there ... a little plastic circle is outside the LF release ... if i removed the bolts, TORX, for both sides(2 each), can i raise the hood enough to access the release tab ?
