Need advice. I am in the process of purchasing a 1991 defender RHD. I found the BAT listing where the frame had a hole in it. The current owner states he reinforced with 1/4 steel and plated the entire frame. Would you touch this vehicle or pass. I have included pics of the BAT holes as well as the new listing which shows current photos. Thanks very much.

 

 

 

To be honest the frame just does not get better. Once you see holes anywhere, it means it has progressed in a whole lot of places, just not broken through yet. Of course it could be isolated, but the only way to know is get a borescope camera gizmo (they are now real cheap on Amazon/eBay) and pear around inside the frame, if you see scaling, pass on it. These frames just rust out in the right circumstances, kind of why you see framsets for sale new, galvanized ones.
