Default Oil over heating

I have a '72 Series III(?), 110 ambulance. Whenever I drive it, the oil temperature goes right to the top of the guage. The water temperature stays normal. The engine does not act as if it is over heating but will stall. If I let it sit for 15-20 minutes, it starts up again. Any suggestions?

Default RE: Oil over heating

Since I don't believe it has a trans oil temp guage it is the engine oil temp, it is a NTC resister next to the oil pump (negative temperature coefficient) if the switch fails the part will disconnect internally giving infinate resistance and shooting the guage up. scott
