Default Strange Problem -TD4 110

Dear all,

my TD4 110 built in 2007 has a strange issue and it is driving me nuts:

When I do more than 50 mph and I am low on rpm, e.g. on a hilly road or when towing something, the car sometimes suddenly starts to coasts. Shifting back and or accelerating doesn't help at all, for 10-20 seconds you are just coasting and the rpms are dropping but the engine is running. After that time, the car usually stutters one or two seconds and you can continue to drive. It happened now at least 15 times over the last 4 months and the last time I was towing a boat. I've already changed the fuel filter but that didn't help at all. What I've also noticed is that when you accelerate, the car sometimes doesn't do anything (usually for a second or two) or immediately starts to stutter (but very briefly). If anyone has an idea what that can be, please let me know.

Cheers

I am not absolutely sure based on your description - the VSS is often suspect when you get strange hesitations especially if you have the cruise on but that doesnt sound like your case - I am not familiar with diesel engines - I know they have issues with water and fuel, and you must keep the fuel filter changed - sounds like you took care of that - you could put a scanner on to see if it throws off any codes - let us know
