I have a 1996' RHD 110 and I have water leaking into the passenger (left side) footwell. The water is leaking from the wing. There is a vacuum pump in there that opens/closes a flap (air recirculation) that leads to the passenger footwell. That pump is broken and the flap is open. In addition, there is an opening in the footwell and some studs coming through -- it looks like a plate would have gone in here?
Any suggestions on how to fix this? I don't want water coming into the car. I've already replaced the gasket on the wing and that seems to have helped but I am still getting water bypassing that open flap and coming into the car. Also, can someone tell me what used to (is supposed to go here? see attached). Should I buy a metal plate and just seal this? Opening in the passenger footwell. The car came like this and unfortunately it seems like there is a metal flap in here that is badly rusted. Where the water is getting in and bypassing what I think is the recirculation flap.
