hi on my def90 200tdi i have come accross a warning light i have never seen before.. a cog with a thermom inside it? bear in mind it was frosty this morn and it stoped me from starting it even after glo plug light went off.. my manaul say's nowt and just want to know what it does

 

On my Disco 2, that would be a tranny over heat light, do you have a stick or automatic? You may find it is also being caused by a short or bad switch.

 

shes a uk 5 speed manual, and it was me starting it first thing in the morning and it was below minus 3 centingrade...

Turn you ignition key till your dash lights up and once the glo plug goes out look out for a red light with the said description under your indicator light and turn her over and it comes on for a second, well mine the other morning came on and locked out the starter.... try'd a few times and then it went off.. its like a gearbox oil light but she had just come back from a long slog on the M6 (1236miles) and this was the following morning of this week end trip.. confused to what it is and why lock out the starter when all level's where correct and saying that the starter will operate up to minus 25..

 

Nope... it's not there on my instrument panel... got a digi camera? Post us a pic if you can.
