Default Where to buy? ExMOD/Army Defender 110 Canvas Hood/Stick Set.

Does anyone know where I can find a basic canvas hood and stick set for an ExMOD/Army Defender 110? I am located in North Carolina and would like to find a set in the U.S. instead of having to get one from the U.K.

I drive a 1985 110 2 door hard top, and want to convert to a soft top. All the new soft tops from companies like Exmoor are quite expensive. I dont even intend on having the top on the truck most of the year anyways, so it doesnt have to be really nice like an Exmoor top.

Ive attached a few photos of a D90 with the ExMOD Soft Top. Didnt find any good pictures of a 110 with this set up, but I guess it doesnt really matter. Thanks.

IMHO the quantity of off the self surplus available in the US might be very small. You could have a welding shop fab up the bars the way you want them (beefier, for some roll over protection, light bar mounts), and a canvas shop (they make store awnings and boat tops) make what you want in any color (like Camel yellow). Compared to overseas purchase and shipping and delays....

Of course, the is always http://www.roversnorth.com/store/c-1...s-hoopset.aspx

I was hoping it wouldnt come down to that, but I might not have a choice. Thanks for the input. Ill be sure to post details and pictures, especially if I have to go the custom route.

Not to hijack your thread too much, but did you import the 110 yourself, or did you get it from an importer?

I bought it locally (Wilmington, NC) from the guys who run www.GB4x4.com

They have a few available to buy at any given time, which you can see on their website. They usually have some very nicely restored trucks, which can cost a good bit, but they also always have a couple original, basic trucks in decent condition for really cheap (by imported Defender standards). I bought mine from them as a bare-bones, super clean, starting point and now Im slowly customizing it to my liking. I live close to GB4x4's workshop, so I have the luxury of having them do the hard work. Their mechanics know what they are doing, and turn out some very nice trucks.

Hope this helps.

Wow. They've got a lot of stuff. I wonder how much they'd really take for that rusted out green 110.

Default ExMOD

Man, those prices are so high, and the GB pound is down, so I would really think that even with the shipping, this might be a lot better deal for less than $15,000 plus the freight for a 2005 TD5 nicely equipped.

or check out the 1987 orange one (a fire brigade truck with 79,000 miles for $8755 plus freight.

One of the guys in the Fort Pitt club bought a really sweet one and picked it up at the port in Baltimore. See the pics below. His is awesome and low miles with full military setup and well maintained. No rot anywhere.

The last pic is me in my Disco with John/s video cam mounted on my hood during a climp to the apex of the Chestnut Ridge Summit near Ligioner PA.
John was driving his Freelander that day and bought the ExMOD soon afterwards.

I like the orange 1986 110. the 2005 would be impossible to import right now.

I wonder how hard it is to put a station wagon tub on the orange one....
