Default The 125 Dollar Question

Found a brush guard with the winch mount.
My questions are,
Does it look OEM?
Is it worth fixing and is it worth 125?

What is it for and what do you plan to install it on? Looks like it may be Range Rover but not sure. Maybe someone else will know.

It looks OE ( here is an example). Is it worth $125, providing it's not rusted through or twisted then YES. I would still start my offer at $75 because wait until you see what a PITA it is to remove the paint/coating. Even sandblasting doesn't always remove it.

Before you fall in love with it, just inspect the rust spot with a screwdriver or a punch. What you see is just the beginning, it's under the coating that can be the problem. This metal likes to flake which makes repairing/welding a real PITA, if not impossible.
If you can make a hole then the price drops a ton.

That being said, you found a Unicorn local so that in itself is a HUGE BONUS! Inspect it, hopefully buy it, and get it on your truck. Even if you spend $125 and it turns out to be a it's not a ton of money to gamble with when it come to LAND ROVERS.
Good Luck!!!!

I looked for years trying to find one of those like what on the XD in the picture. Anyway; it looked like the cent hoop did not go up high enough in comparison to the light guards but seeing the other picture makes it easier to visualize. As mentioned check for rust extents and know you have some work but even a generic winch tray will cost close to that.

I looks like it's just the brush screen rotting not the frame. An easy way to get the coating off is with a rosebud on an oxy/acetolene setup, stinks like a champ. I'd go aftermarket or make my own but if your wanting to keep a Disco pure then this is what you'd want. It's a bunch of work for $125 and if you don't use it it's a bunch of time for a bolt on.

Looks like it may be a stock one. They were made of a light steel and as others have said, once the rust gets to it, they don't stop. I have a few spots where I can push a screwdriver through it and no amount of sanding and paint is gonna fix that. they rust from the inside out.

I like the looks of the stock unit but not the rust or flaking paint.
