So I've been wracking my brain going back and forth and read alot of technical discussions regarding this rim size subject and have decided to go with a 17" size due to having BFG KO's in 17's in 245/70/17 and 265/70/17 in the storage for my other truck (non LR)..



What I want to know is what would be the optimal 17" tire size to run on a 2.5" lifted Discovery 1. The offset of the wheels would be et 0 to -20 which I'm looking at.


Currently I'm running Freestyle wheels upgraded from the Caster's and I have 16" offset steels for the Disco1 which are just sitting in the storage and I'd be looking into either new AT/MT 245/75/16 or 265/70/16's but the tire prices aren't much different for 16"s over the 17"s.

Optimal for what use? 32" OD is about as large as I'd go on road without gearing changes.
I can't imagine that replacing stock 16" with aftermarket 17" wheels could possibly be cost effective.

 

Where in the hell are you finding 17" wheels for a DI?

Yes I do have them.. Brand new still with stickers in 245/70/17 and 265/70/17's AT/KO's. As for 17" rims I'm importing a couple of sets from the UK.. I know that the 18's on the D2 are 65 series if not 60's..

I do alot of on road driving but occasionally shuttle my DH bike up the mountain trail and then back down... So I do see trailwork.. Not much for bogging though..

As for prices for tires.. I buy them wholesale in bulk so Retail is never going to happen..
