So other then replacing the missing items what are your long term goals? Restoration? Just fix the rust? And how do you insure a one of 20 ( I have no idea how many were made for that race) Genuine Pedigreed race vehicle ?

There is very little major rust(some on the door, etc). I would love to straighten the frame, the inch or so that it needs. Just so i could fit a new windshield into it. Other than that, patina it is. as for insurance....I have not looked into that just yet. I drive it around on offroad use areas and some 4x4 areas. I would love to try to get this thing titled, but I haven't tried yet. I figure the DMV will not got for it....but we'll see.

There are ( or used to be ) companies that will title your vehicle for a fee, iirc you basicly on paper sell it to them they title and sell it back you retain possetion of the vehicle

Just be mindful there can be between retaining patina for originality and to tell the vehicles story and allowing rust to take a foothold and destroy the vehicle, on the east coast those metal storage buildings can be the worst storage cause they sweat

No matter what I am so glad it worked out and all the pics you have provided us on a vehicle that otherwise disappeared , I am surprised no dealer or rover has tried to contact to buy it, if I was them I would want to display that to try and inject some excitement and nostalgia back in the brand

I'd wait until the vehicle is 25 years old before trying to get a title for on-road purposes.

Yeah, those companies can be shady most if the time. Technically, this disco has a snow plow attachment. In my county, you can get a special license plate to drive on the roads, short distances. I'm looking into that. As for the 25 year year rule, I don't have a MSO. I think that is needed, but could be wrong. I keep it stored during winter and it is super dry during summer. The rust that is there, is from the accident well over 15 years ago. I am not worried.

No problem, just find a nice 1993 D1 that's been parted out and swap that little part of the dashboard over.

There aren't any. They didn't import D1 to the US until 1994.

I wired up six of those a while ago. You'll have fun.
